Zhaohong Zhu is a composer and producer from Xiamen, China. He graduated from Columbia College Chicago's Music Composition for the Screen MFA program and is currently working in Los Angeles.

 

During his undergraduate studies, his experimental collaborative work "Nonexistent Tribe" won second prize in the 14th Beijing International Electronic Music Composition Competition (Musicacoustica-Beijing). He also released a collaborative album called "GUI," in which he combined Chinese traditional instruments with electronic dance music. While at Columbia College Chicago, he composed music for the TV show "The Red Flag Canal" as an additional music composer, which played on CCTV One in China. He has also composed music for several short films, including 'Bye Dad,' a participant in the Tel Aviv International Student Short Film Festival. His work in 'Sunrise' was featured in both the New York Short Film Festival and the Lift-Off Global Network Festival in 2023. Additionally, his composition for '困 (Don't Sleep)' not only triumphed at the HiShorts Film Festival but also garnered the Best Performance accolade at the WildSound Festival. Further more, he composed several projects for Huanyu (LE) Technologies, including shows like "Records of Ancient Yunnan" and the interactive/immersive theme park "QianHuaZhou Resort" in Guangdong. Furthermore, he composed the Best Performing Arts project in the Chinese theme park of 2022, "Steam Punk Machinery," at Xiangyang OCT Fantasy Resort.

 

"After graduating, he embarked on an enriching journey in the world of music and production. His first significant experience was an internship with Stephanie Economou, during which he contributed to the project 'Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok.' This project won the first Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games/Interactive Media." He further honed his skills by working as an arranger and producer for Nathan Wang (王宗賢) on the movie 'Deliverance' (源生罪). More recently, his creative endeavors have led him to compose additional music for the CCTV show 'SanJiangChao'(三江潮) and ' Homesickness 'in Henan Satellite TV's 'Chinese Festival' (河南中秋卫视) series program, '2023 Mid-Autumn Marvelous Journey'. Concurrently, he is actively involved in the game project 'Matchington Mansion' and 'Project Makeover'. Additionally, he is composing for a large-scale water screen live-action drama show titled 'Reappearance of Diao Chan'(再现貂蝉), set in Lintao County Xizhou Mingyuan Scenic Area in China. His diverse array of projects not only reflects his versatility but also his passion for bringing stories to life through music."
